Design Director Profile: Ricardo (Ric) Benitez
-
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture overseas before moving to New Zealand in 1987. Since then, I have built extensive experience working with Wellington-based architectural firms, property developers, and residential design-and-build companies.
-
Throughout my career, I have held a range of roles, including in-house architectural designer, lead project designer, design manager, and design project management consultant and coordinator.
- With 39 years of professional design experience in New Zealand, I have contributed to a diverse range of residential and commercial projects. These include standalone new builds, medium-density residential developments (MDRS), alterations to existing homes, medium-scale commercial refurbishments, and office fit-outs.
-
As a current Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) Design 3, I remain up to date with evolving industry regulations through ongoing professional development. This includes attending industry seminars, following MBIE guidelines, reviewing construction industry publications, and participating in online webinars to continually expand my knowledge and expertise.
- Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, competing in a tenpin bowling league, and staying active with regular weekend mountain biking.
